BAPS Charities,

Sunday September 18, 2005 from 9am to 2pm. The event was
inaugurated by New Jersey State Senator, John Adler. Senator
Adler was very impressed with the activities of BAPS Charities and appreciated the medical services provided
at the health fair.
The various health
services provided included physical examination for adults
and children, detailed eye screening, glaucoma testing,
blood sugar testing, and detailed blood analysis.
A team of laboratory
technicians, nurses and phlebotomist conducted lab services
which included complete blood count, metabolic profile and
total cholesterol count. A team of residents triaged all
patients before they were seen by primary care physicians.
Thereafter the patients had the opportunity to consult with
various specialists including Cardiologists, Gastroenterologists,
Pharmacists, Orthopedists, and Ophthalmologists. Most important,
patients had the benefit of learning more about their health
through meeting with physicians, brochures and literature
distributed on site.
In addition, various
booths set up by pharmaceutical companies, government health
organizations and health insurance companies guided people
in obtaining low cost health insurance.
All these services
were provided free of charge, and the money collected by
donations was donated to BAPS Charities' Katrina
Relief Funds.
