Various Physical Examinations at Health Fair

04.02.2005
Houston, TX, USA

BAPS Charities at Stafford organized the 5th annual health fair, on Saturday, April 2, 2005 from 9 am to 4 pm. The fair highlighted the three medical "E's" - Examination, Education and Exhibition.

Senator Dr. Kyle Janek, from district 17, ceremoniously declared the Health Fair open. University of Texas alum, Senator Dr. Kyle Janek is the only physician in the Senate and House of the Texas Congress. He was impressed by the activities of BAPS Charities and expressed his deep respect for the volunteers who worked day and night for the betterment of the society.

The various health services provided this year included physical examinations (adult and child), eye screenings, dental screenings, hearing tests, ear-nose-throat examinations, and dermatology screenings. These were among some of the complimentary exams offered. Detailed blood analysis, EKG, bone density, pap smear, mammogram, and prostate screening were among the reduced priced tests offered.

Apart from providing health services, skilled professionals also conducted five different seminars for physicians and dentists. The topics ranged from osteoporosis to GERD, colorectal screening, and malpractice litigation stress. There were also general health seminars to educate the public about a range of topics including diabetes and yoga. These seminars were sponsored by a number of health care companies and organizations.

Twenty-five booths were set up by various pharmaceutical companies, local hospitals, government health organizations and other health-care providers which provided guidance and valuable information on the latest medical drugs, disease prevention, and non-conventional medical methods such as acupuncture.

Numerous doctors, pharmacists, nurses and medical technologists who generously volunteered their time and equipment made these medical examinations possible.
