Hurricane Katrina
not only affected the residents of Louisiana but its effects
were felt all throughout the United States. It caused widespread
devastation in New Orleans; people lost their lives and
everything they possessed. There was tremendous amount of
outcry for help all over the nation. It is in this time
of need, as always, BAPS Charities opened their
arms, their wallets, their compassion, their exceptional
voluntary services and their hearts to the victims of this
powerful Hurricane.
BAPS Charities
responded immediately to take action in this catastrophic
event. In no time kitchens were established to distribute
hot meals to the people in Kenner, Louisiana. Shelters were
opened in Jackson, MS and the surrounding areas to provide
housing facilities for these victims. Volunteers made themselves
available in Biloxi, Jackson, Gulfport and Houston. They
worked hand in hand with Philip Capitano, the Mayor of the
city of Kenner and provided all the necessary relief supplies.
In recognition and
appreciation of the effort, hard work, kindness, and compassion
shown by the volunteers of BAPS Charities, the
Mayor of the city of Kenner issued a proclamation commending
their effort. BAPS Charities thanks and appreciates
this recognition and vows to continue providing excellent
humanitarian help in the time of need.
