For the seventh
consecutive year, a free health fair was organized by BAPS Charities, Cleveland, and supported by BAPS Medical
Services and the Association of Indian Physicians of Northern
Ohio (AIPNO). About 500 participants got free medical services
with the help of 54 physicians and 20 allied health-professionals
and many volunteers.
These tests included:
TSH, comprehensive metabolic profile, lipid profile (cholesterol),
PSA, finger-stick blood sugar, CBC, EKG, PAP smear, spirometry,
pulse-oximetry, audiometry, and bone density screening,
blood pressure measurement, cardiac and pulmonary auscultation,
dental and eye check, orthopedic and rheumatology-related
exam, prostate exam and pelvic exam. Consultations were
available in pediatrics, gastroenterology, ENT, neurology,
geriatrics, urology, mental health, oncology, pharmacy,
and physical therapy. Primary care physicians determined
the most appropriate test and service needed by the participants.
Participants were
electronically registered and if they had attended a previous
health fair, they were given a folder containing their past
medical information, thus providing continuity of care.
The health fair was supported by several area-hospitals,
pharmaceutical corporations, local companies and local benefactors.
