BAPS Charities, Clifton, NJ, held its sixth annual Health/Medical Diagnostic Camp on Sunday, September 17, 2006 with support from BAPS Medical Services. Around 225 participants had pre-registered for this annual event.

Free services included physical exams, dental exams, vision checks, glaucoma tests, bone density exams, EKG, and detailed blood chemistry and diagnostic screening. Twenty five medical practitioners and eighteen allied health professionals provided free services during this event. Various specialists, including internists, hematologists / oncologists, ophthalmologists, gastroenterologists, geriatrician and pulmonologists proffered their services and were available for free, personal consultations. Once again, medical professionals from New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired identified individuals with diabetic retinopathy and imminent hyper-mature cataracts that could lead to loss of vision.

This annual event receives great enthusiasm from the community. BAPS Charities believes events like these are opportunities to raise medical awareness, identify those at risk for serious illness, and fill the healthcare gap found in many of our communities nationwide.
