BAPS Charities,
Canada organized its annual Health Fair 'Promoting Healthy
Living' on Sunday, December 2, 2006 from 12:00 pm to 2:30
pm. The focus of this year's Health Fair was dental health
and hygiene. In support of this initiative, many GTA dentists
and medical staff provided their voluntary services to educate
the public. Several hundred people took advantage of this
opportunity to learn about dental health and to meet with
a dental professional for dental and oral checkup.
Other free services
provided at this health fair included blood sugar testing
and blood pressure measurement. The Ontario Dental Association,
the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society
provided educational material and multi-media displays in
various languages. Various organizations like Colgate Pharmaceuticals,
Larr Sales, Sunstar Butlar Company provided dental supplies
and Bayer Canada supported the event by providing blood
sugar testing kits.
The inauguration
of the event took place in the presence of volunteer dentists,
doctors, medical staff, sponsors and community leaders.
Senior representatives from the Canadian Dental Association
were also present and inaugurated the event.
A team of more than
twenty dentists, doctors, pharmacists, nurses and laboratory
technologists from across the Greater Toronto Area volunteered
their time, equipment, and clinical expertise to make this
health fair a success for all visitors. Numerous BAPS Charities volunteers supported them. At the end of the
fair, all volunteers were honored by BAPS Charities
recognizing their services in promoting healthy living to
the community.
