On Saturday, November
17, 2007, 600 patients were treated at an eye examination camp
at Kitunda Primary School in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. The
camp was organized by BAPS Charities' partner organizations
in Tanzania in collaboration with the CCBRT Hospital of
Dar-es-Salaam. Regional Commissioner of Dar-es-Salaam, Hon.
Abbas Kandoro opened the camp for patient services. The
patients were not only examined for correct vision, but
also for eye diseases that needed special care. Under the
supervision of volunteer opticians, 170 patients were placed
on necessary antibiotics and 150 were given prescriptions
for corrective lenses. Together, the volunteers of BAPS
and CCBRT Hospital were able to reach out to the community
and provide people with the help that was needed.
