BAPS Charities helps school children in Durban

On June 13th 2008, a team of BAPS Charities volunteers in Durban embarked on a charity drive to distribute winter school uniforms, blankets and stationery to the underprivileged children of The Umkomaas Drift Primary School, South of Durban, South Africa. A total of 392 children were provided with uniforms and stationery was. These children were also provided with over 150 blankets.               

BAPS Charities volunteers were warmly welcomed by the students, staff and governing body members of the school. The gratitude of the students was affectionately expressed in multi-cultural songs and dances presented by them. Also present on the occasion were Education Department Representative, Mr. Sithole and KwaZuluNatal MEC, Minister Naren Singh.  Speaking on the occasion Mr. Sithole said, “We are extremely grateful to BAPS Charities for helping our children. They have a tradition of community service and are our true community partners." Mr. Naren Singh sharing his personal experiences acquainted everyone with the global humanitarian activities of BAPS Charities.
