BAPS Charities Thanksgiving food drive

November 26, 2009
Chino Hills, CA

Apples, oranges, and bananas. These may be some of the most common fruits that people consume. Yet, when placed in the context of Thanksgiving, they serve the purpose of bringing together a diverse community. On November 26, 2009 approximately 20 volunteers from BAPS Charities participated in distributing fruit baskets to the residents of the Ranch Monte Vista Mobile Homes community in an effort to promote the values that represent Thanksgiving. Volunteers, ranging from the ages of 8 to 50, gathered to prepare the baskets on the morning of Thanksgiving. Approximately 250 of households received the fruit baskets.

As a part of the Thanksgiving festivities, BAPS Charities collaborated with the Caring for the Hills organization, on November 21, to provide Thanksgiving gifts to more than 170 families who had been registered to receive the gifts. Judy Rogers, who leads Caring for the Hills said, "There are angels in this town. This year one of those who came to fill the boxes was BAPS Charities, who donated large quantities of Fresh Cabbage, Potatoes, Celery, Beetroot, Baby Carrots, Spinach, Cantaloupes and Fresh Beans. Recipients were delighted with the fresh produce.”
