BAPS Charities H1N1 Vaccination Drive, Washington DC

January 16, 2010
Washington, DC

On January  16th, BAPS Charities organized a H1N1 Vaccination Drive to stop the spread of H1N1. A team of 10 medical professionals vaccinated 167 participants from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Speaking on the occasion, Nishith Gandhi, BAPS Charities Medical Services coordinator said, “We are thankful to P G County Health Department for providing us free H1N1 flu shots.  We are also thankful to the 15 volunteers including 10 medical professionals who donated their time to ensure the vaccination drive ran smoothly. With everyone’s team effort we were able to administer the shots and educate the community about H1N1 and the importance of being vaccinated.”

BAPS Charities organized 2 H1N1 health lectures at over 50 centers and distributed information flyers in English and Gujarati to bring out awareness about H1N1.

BAPS Charities urges everyone to practice healthy habits and reminds the public that the best way to prevent the spread of disease is proper hand washing. It is recommended to wash hands for about 30 seconds using warm water and soap. When soap and water aren't available, alcohol-based hand sanitizers can also be used.
