BAPS Charities Pledges
$100,000 for Sick Kids Foundation

September 15, 2010
Toronto, Canada

BAPS Charities announced a pledge of $100,000 for the Sick Children's Hospital's Research & Learning Tower Campaign on September 15, 2010. Our donation, over the next five years, will support the Hospital for Sick Children's new Research and Learning Tower,” said BAPS Charities President Chandrakant Sachdev. “The Tower will provide access to the best technology and house all the hospital's world class researchers. This will enable them to work together to make new discoveries in child health.”

BAPS Charities also announced a further donation of $10,000 to the Heart & Stroke Foundation to support its research and awareness initiatives into heart disease and stroke in the South Asian community. Representing the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario were Bill Thomas, Chief Financial Officer and Vivien Glencross, Manager, Community & Ethnic Engagement who thanked BAPS Charities and its volunteers for their sincere support.

The dual announcements were made in the presence of dignitaries, community leaders and invited guests. The funds for these donations were raised through various youth organized activities including the annual BAPS Charities Walk. This year’s walk was held on Sunday September 12, 2010, when hundreds of community members participated in four cities across Canada – Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Fort McMurray to raise funds for Sick Kids Foundation and the other activities of BAPS Charities.
