| BAPS Charities Hosts Gala Event Supporting
The Canadian National Institute for the Blind

BAPS Charities organized the 5th Annual Gala Event in Toronto on May 12, 2011. This year’s Gala benefited the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), the Japan Earthquake Relief and the activities of BAPS Charities. The theme of this year’s Gala Event was "The Vision Within" and it was reflected in various ways throughout the evening. Entertainment was provided by Bharat Patel, one of the foremost magicians in the world.
Many corporate, business and community leaders enjoyed an evening with a networking reception followed by an elegant dinner and enlightening presentation by keynote speaker, Mr. Steve Lutz, Vice President Fund Development, CNIB.
The Hon. Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism said, “On behalf of the government of Canada and all Canadians, I want to thank BAPS Charities for your contribution to Canada. And it’s not just about taking care of your own community. Two weeks ago I was in this hall for the BAPS Charities Health Fair and we see again tonight you reaching out to help the broader community and across the world to help those affected by the Japan Earthquake. So I would like to say thank you for the great work that you do all throughout Canada.”
Hon. Dr. Eric Hoskins, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration said, “This is what BAPS Charities does best, you help those in need. It is not simply here in this place, but it is across North America and throughout the world. You connect people throughout the world of different backgrounds through your charity, generosity and humanity. And you have been doing this for more than 50 years. BAPS Charities truly epitomizes the Vedic concept that the whole earth is one family and you make this concept a reality. You make it matter on the ground through the work that you do. You make fundamental and positive changes in people's lives and the McGuinty Government of Ontario deeply appreciates your work and we thank you for that. You represent the best of us. You make our province a more open and more compassionate place to live.”
The Hon. Charles Sousa, Ontario Minister of Labour read a message from Ontario Premier McGuinty congratulating BAPS Charities on the outstanding work the organization is doing to create a more compassionate and caring society.
