Gujarat suffered another dry monsoon which caused havoc in the state.

Area affected

:

Villages and towns like Jamnagar, Jodiya, Bhanvad, Jamkalyanpur and Dhrol were the worst affected, as were rural villages.

BAPS centre in Gunatitnagar (Bhadra) coordinated relief operations.

BAPS concentrated on the entire district of Jamnagar and neighbouring areas.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION

BAPS opened 27 buttermilk distribution centres in the worst affected areas. 15,000 people received buttermilk everyday

To counter malnutrition and hunger, BAPS distributed a specially made sweet dish called ‘sukhadi.' Everyday 300kgs. of sukhadi were distributed in the affected areas. In the month of May, 32,000 people received ‘sukhadi.'

5,000 kg. of food grains were distributed in the worst affected area.

CATTLE CARE

•  250,000 kg. of sugarcane was distributed for cattle.

•  17,000 bundles of green grass were distributed in the Khambhat area.

•  Fodder was also distributed to 8,000 cattle heads in Kutch.
