On 19 and 20 May, a 240 km/h velocity
cyclone with 8 metre high tidal waves struck the regions
of Kutch together with 20 inches of torrential rain.
This was the second consecutive cyclone to strike Kutch
in two years. |

IMMEDIATE HELP
Within 24 hours of the
cyclone, BAPS volunteers, under the guidance of Sadhu Devcharandas,
distributed food, aid and fodder to over 40 villages.
 FOOD DISTRIBUTION
From 21 to 30 May, BAPS
volunteers travelled up to 700 kilometres a day to provide
relief, food, and fodder for cattle. BAPS provided relief
to over 7,000 families in three districts.
CATTLE CARE Some 40,000 cattle had
died and a greater number were threatened with starvation.
BAPS sent and distributed 100 tonnes of fresh fodder to
cattle in affected areas.
