In a country where
the majority of people live off of the land, there is
no surprise that Indians invest time and money into the
development of healthy cattle.
BAPS Charities supports
10 centers whose aim is to breed healthy, productive cattle.
In the last 15 years, these centers have been awarded
a combined 34 National Livestock Awards.

Bio-Gas
These centers also produce
bio-gas. Bio-gas is created from fomenting cattle manure.
It can be transformed into both electricity and heat.
Today biogas is regarded as an important source of energy,
both environmentally friendly and economical. It can be
used in place of fossil fuel, thus saving our precious
environment and cutting the cost of living by more than
half. The fomenting manure can then be used as excellent
natural fertilizer.
Emergencies
In times of severe drought, the livestock of many farmers
perish. Therefore, BAPS Charities not only serves the needs
of people, but also creates camps where cows, buffaloes
and bulls are provided food and water. These camps also
provide free veteranary services.
During the latest
drought in Gujarat, in 2001, 5 cattle camps cared for
more than 15,000 animals for over 6 months.
