All 231 registered health fair participants
received the following medical services
-
Blood sugar test
Height and weight BMI determination
Blood pressure taken twice over
5 minutes apart
Carotid bruits listening test
Heart pulse listening test
They also received a sequence of tests
entered on the standard American Stroke Association
(ASA) Stroke Risk Assessment form with final consultation
of results with Frankford Hospital Physician Residents
under Dr. Robert Danoff's guidance with BAPS Charities
volunteers as translators. High abnormal screening
results were taken to Dr. Mukesh Patel for individual
physician consultation. Other Services
After the screenings 125 health fair
attendees stayed for Indian American increased risk
presentations in diabetes, cardiovascular disease,
and stroke by Dr. Arvind Cavale, Dr. Mrugesh Patel,
and Dr. Mukesh Patel, respectively, in English/Hindi
and Gujarati. Dr. Bindu Kansupada and Dr. Zafar Khan
also gave important brief presentations of services
available to those without insurance.
