BAPS Charities Walk-Run 2025 in Montgomery, AL

On May 31, 2025, BAPS Charities brought the community together in Montgomery, AL, for its annual “Spirit of Service: Walk-Run.” This inspiring event encouraged participants to step forward in support of three local beneficiaries: the ALS Foundation, Kids to Love, and United Cerebral Palsy of East Central Alabama. The event raised awareness for neurodegenerative diseases, child welfare, and cerebral palsy—while promoting service, compassion, and community well-being.

With over 230 participants, the event welcomed individuals of all ages. Among the distinguished guests were Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall and State Representative Reed Ingram, who joined in solidarity for the cause. Also in attendance were State Senator Jack Williams and his wife, Judge Samarria Dunson; Judge Ben Baxley; Lee County Commissioner Doug Cannon; and members of Montgomery Fire and Rescue, showing broad-based community support.

Additional guests included AUM Provost Dr. Mrinal Varma and his wife, Shanta Varma; Mark Bunting, Vice President of WSFA; and Alabama Forestry Commissioner Caroleene Dobson. RoTyus Holyfield represented the Montgomery Mayor’s Office. Though unable to attend in person, several leaders shared their support for the event, including former NFL player Wesley Britt, State Director for Rural Development Twinkle Cavanaugh, Alabama Supreme Court Judge Bill Lewis, RNC Committeeman Bill Harris, and Representative Jeremy Gray.

Reflecting on the day’s impact, Caroleene Dobson from the Alabama Forestry Commission shared, “Thanks for all the work you guys do. We all had a great time. The kids had a blast too. My daughter was happy to see her friends. So appreciative of all the kindness.”

Attorney General Steve Marshall added, “What a wonderful event. BAPS Charities truly is setting a standard not only for this community but throughout the state. Very blessed to be a part of today’s event.”

RoTyus Holyfield from the Montgomery Mayor’s Office shared, “I want to thank BAPS Charities for the invitation. Love the way their culture loves on others!! Most nice and kind people I have ever met! Great event!”

Mark Bunting of WSFA expressed, “We want to help any organization that wants to help the community and make this community a better place to live. Thank you to BAPS [Charities] for all your efforts. Your community right here is amazing, and you are a giving group of people, and we are grateful for what you do for Montgomery and the surrounding area. Thank you very much.”

This BAPS Charities Walk-Run is one of over 100 similar events held across North America as part of a broader initiative benefiting local organizations. For over 20 years, BAPS Charities has organized more than 1,100 walks, making a meaningful impact in communities by supporting important causes and promoting a spirit of service and unity.
