BAPS Charities Walk-Run 2025 in Edmonton, AB

On June 21, 2025, BAPS Charities brought the community together in Edmonton, Alberta, for its annual “Spirit of Service: Walk-Run.” This inspiring event encouraged participants to step forward in support of the life-saving work of two National Beneficiaries: the William Osler Health System Foundation and the CNIB Foundation.

This year’s walk united over 325 community members who came together to raise awareness and funds for health initiatives and other charitable activities organized by BAPS Charities. The event showcased a broad spectrum of participation, from youth to seniors, united for a common cause.

Special guests included Rakhi Pancholi, Deputy Leader of the Alberta NDP and Member of Legislative Assembly for Edmonton-Whitemud, along with Councillor Karen Principe, Councillor Keren Tang, and Councillor Jo-Anne Wright from the City of Edmonton.

The William Osler Health System is one of the largest community health care systems in the country, comprising three integrated hospitals: Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital, and the Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.

The CNIB Foundation, formerly known as the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, is a non-profit organization that delivers innovative programs and advocacy for people impacted by blindness.

The event provided an opportunity for participants to promote and engage in a healthier lifestyle while reminding them of the profound impact collective efforts can have in addressing local needs and challenges.

Rakhi Pancholi, Deputy Leader of the Alberta NDP and Member of Legislative Assembly for Edmonton-Whitemud posted on social media, “Once again, I was so happy to participate in the BAPS Charities Walk and Run here in Edmonton—one of 13 Canadian cities that participated. This amazing organization works tirelessly, raising money for health and education initiatives and environmental and humanitarian relief.”

Councillor Karen Principe posted on social media, “It was a pleasure to join the BAPS Charities Walk/Run 2025 at Emily Murphy Park this weekend. The event brought the community together in support of health and wellness initiatives, while celebrating the values of service, compassion, and unity. Events like these remind us of the impact we can make when we walk together, step by step, toward a healthier and more inclusive Edmonton. Thank you to BAPS and the many dedicated volunteers who made the day so meaningful.”

Councillor Jo-Anne Wright posted on social media, “This past weekend, the BAPS Charities Walk happened in 13 cities across Canada. These events bring awareness and raise funds for health initiatives, like partnerships with the CNIB, along with other charitable activities. The theme of the BAPS Charities is “In the Joy of Others, Lies Our Own,” and that was apparent in the huge number of volunteers that came out to support this event. Thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy to support BAPS Charities!”

The BAPS Charities Walk-Run in Edmonton is one of over 100 similar events held across North America as part of a broader initiative benefiting local organizations.
