Girls’ Community Football Tournament: Premvati Cup – UK

On Saturday 12 July 2025, BAPS Charities hosted the Premvati Cup, a national 5-a-side football tournament for girls of all ages.

This year, the event saw 240 enthusiastic girls from 16  towns and cities around the UK come together at Gibbons Recreational Ground, located opposite BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London.

The tournament began with an uplifting opening ceremony, setting a positive tone for a day full of spirited matches and shared sportsmanship.

Every team brought their best, displaying great teamwork, enthusiasm, and love for the sport.

As teams advanced through the stages, the intensity of the matches grew, with players giving it their all to reach the finals.

This year, the event also hosted guests from the Professional Footballers’ Association. We were honoured to have both coaches and players come along to not only witness the talent within the tournament but also run specialised skills workshops with the young girls and encourage more enthusiasm for the sport. We are grateful for their time and commitment on the day, and their continued support in motivating the youth and emphasising unity through sport.

By the end of the tournament, both energy and morale were at an all-time high. Across 83 fast-paced matches, an impressive total of 121 goals were scored.

This incredible gathering was brought to life thanks to the dedication of more than 120 BAPS community volunteers, as well as the ongoing encouragement from supportive families and friends who cheered passionately from the sidelines.

The tournament stood as a testament to the power of unity and healthy competition, bringing communities together for a day that celebrated skill, effort, and joy on and off the pitch.
