On August 10, 2025, BAPS Charities brought the community together in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, for its annual “Spirit of Service: Walk-Run.” This inspiring event encouraged participants to step forward in support of the life-saving work of two national beneficiaries: the William Osler Health System Foundation and the CNIB Foundation, and local beneficiary, the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.
This year’s walk united over 200 community members who came together to raise awareness and funds for health initiatives and other charitable activities organized by BAPS Charities. The event showcased a broad spectrum of participation, from youth to seniors, united for a common cause.
Special guests included Councillor Bev Dubois, City of Saskatoon, and Bailey Gardner, Community Engagement Manager, Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation supports specialized pediatric and maternal care at Saskatchewan’s only dedicated children’s hospital. The foundation raises vital funds to enhance care, advance research, and provide life-saving equipment for children, babies, and expectant mothers across the province.
The William Osler Health System is one of the largest community health care systems in the country, comprising three integrated hospitals: Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital, and the Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.
The CNIB Foundation, formerly known as the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, is a non-profit organization that delivers innovative programs and advocacy for people impacted by blindness.
The event provided an opportunity for participants to promote and engage in a healthier lifestyle while reminding them of the profound impact collective efforts can have in addressing local needs and challenges.
Councillor Bev Dubois, City of Saskatoon, posted on social media, “It was my pleasure to attend and bring greetings to the BAPS Charities Walk/Run. This walk/ran is to bring awareness and raise funds for health initiatives and is driven by the belief that “In the Joy of Others, Lies Our Own”. It was a perfect summer afternoon with friendship and enthusiasm. Congratulations and thanks to the volunteers and organizers!”.
Bailey Gardner, Community Engagement Manager, Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation, said, “Thank you all so much for coming today to support the foundation, support your own children, and support children across Saskatchewan. It is such a remarkable thing when communities come together like this, and we are so grateful for the work that has gone on by the committee.”
