BAPS Charities Hosts School Supply Drive in Maryland to Support Students

From June to August 2025, BAPS Charities in Beltsville, Maryland, organized a school supply drive. The initiative supported students in Maryland communities by providing the supplies they needed for a successful school year ahead. Over two months, BAPS Charities volunteers and local community members collected more than 1,535 items, including pens, pencils, binders, highlighters, notebooks, backpacks, lunch boxes, and more.

The supplies were donated to two local recipients: the Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive of Prince George’s County and Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Beltsville.

At Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, BAPS Charities volunteers, along with Faisal Quader, Education Subcommittee Commissioner from the Governor’s Commission on South Asian American Affairs, and Jesse Christopherson, representative from Prince George’s County Councilwoman Wanika Fisher’s office, joined school leadership to present the donations.

“I had the pleasure of participating at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School as a commissioner. BAPS Charities has done a wonderful job with the donation of school supplies to middle school students. It made a big difference to our students and the community. Congratulations!” said Commissioner Faisal Quader.

Councilwoman Wanika Fisher also commended the initiative, stating, “It’s inspiring to see our community come together to support students as they start the new school year. The efforts from BAPS Charities volunteers will make a real difference for students in Prince George’s County.”

At the Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive, Prince George’s County Council Member Calvin Hawkins joined BAPS Charities volunteers to receive the contributions. Both organizations expressed their gratitude for the generous donations, noting their impact in providing students with essential materials throughout the school year.

Council Member Calvin Hawkins added, “It’s inspiring to see our community come together to support students as they start the new school year. The efforts from BAPS Charities volunteers will make a real difference for students in Prince George’s County.”
