Health Lecture on Dental Care in Jackson, MS

Oral health plays a vital role in overall well-being, yet it remains one of the most overlooked aspects of preventive care. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 90% of adults in the United States have experienced cavities, and almost half of those over age 30 suffer from gum disease. Both conditions are largely preventable with regular care and awareness. Poor oral hygiene is increasingly recognized as a contributing factor to serious systemic diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, and even Alzheimer’s disease.

To promote awareness of this critical connection, BAPS Charities hosted a health awareness lecture on dental care in Jackson, MS, on November 2, 2025. The lecture, titled “Guarding the Gate: Protecting Your Health Starts with Dental Care,” aimed to educate community members about the importance of oral hygiene and its link to overall health.

Dr. Neil Patel highlighted practical steps for prevention—brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, flossing, using fluoride mouthwash, maintaining a balanced diet, and visiting a dentist regularly. Attendees also learned about choosing the right toothbrush and toothpaste, and how lifestyle factors such as smoking and poor nutrition impact dental health.

Through its ongoing health lecture series, BAPS Charities continues to advance community wellness and preventive education across North America.
