Vic Bushfire Relief: Supporting Our Communities & Firefighters

The recent bushfires across Victoria have brought significant challenges to local residents and the emergency services working tirelessly to protect them. In response to the crisis, volunteers stepped in to provide immediate relief and supplies to those affected.

At South Morang and Mernda CFA Fire Stations. Volunteers met with local crews to provide support for their demanding shifts. To help keep energy levels high, the team donated 300 litres of water, 100 litres of long life milk ,11kg of energy bars, 23kg of cereal and 15kg of baked beans.

Additional support was also provided at the Fire Relief Centre located at the Shepparton Showgrounds. This visit focused on assisting families who had been forced to evacuate their homes. Volunteers delivered hygiene essentials including 120 toothbrushes and 96 tubes of toothpaste. Food staples were also provided, consisting of 80 bags of rice, dry spaghetti and tinned baked beans. To ensure family pets were not forgotten, the team also handed over 80 large cans of dog food and 120 cans of cat food.

At the Lavington Rural Fire Brigade, volunteers addressed the physical toll of firefighting by supplying items to help with the dry and itchy eyes caused by smoke. This included 39 bottles of eye drops and 207 packs of travel face wipes to provide immediate comfort.

BAPS Charities is grateful for the opportunity to serve the brave firefighters and the wider community. We remain committed to identifying areas of need and offering support where possible. Every item donated represents more than just physical aid; it is a symbol of compassion and a shared commitment to a stronger and more caring community.
