BAPS Charities Walk-Run 2026 in Houston, TX

  1. Ahead of America’s 250th anniversary, BAPS Charities hosted the 2026 Spirit of Service Walk-Run, bringing together more than 50,000 participants across over 100 cities in the United States and Canada. The event helped kick off the America250 celebrations, highlighting community service and civic pride in action.

On April 26, 2026, the Walk-Run kickoff in Houston, Texas, drew families, students, and community leaders from across the region. The event also welcomed U.S. Congressman Christian Me and Mayor of Sugar Land, TX, Carol McCutcheon, who participated alongside volunteers and supporters in showing solidarity for the cause.

Congressman Menefee spoke about the importance of service and civic engagement. “We go on social media and think about ourselves. We watch the news and think about how it impacts us personally. But sometimes we need to focus on our neighbors, our brothers, our sisters, and our community — and that’s what this is all about,” he said, emphasizing the Walk-Run’s role in strengthening community values.

The Walk-Run is more than just a community event. BAPS Charities volunteers have provided disaster relief, organized health fairs, and planted more than 2 million trees worldwide. These efforts reflect the organization’s ongoing commitment to service and civic engagement.

People of all ages participated in the Houston event, with students and professionals joining together in a shared spirit of service. “Kicking off America250 with our volunteers waving the flag was an amazing sight to see today,” said Yogin Patel.

Approximately 2,200 people gathered at Sugar Land Town Square to support and raise awareness for several charitable organizations, including National Alliance on Mental Illness, Behind the Badge Charities, and Stafford MSD Education Foundation. The event also promoted healthy living and a spirit of compassion, while organizers emphasized the importance of local collaboration and community partnerships.

As America250 approaches, the Spirit of Service Walk-Run highlights how service can unite communities and inspire a stronger future for generations to come.
