As America prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary, BAPS Charities hosted the 2026 Spirit of Service Walk-Run, uniting more than 50,000 participants across over 100 cities in the United States and Canada in a nationwide celebration of service, civic engagement, and community well-being. The initiative helped launch the America250 celebrations by putting compassion and volunteerism into action.
On May 30, 2026, BAPS Charities hosted its annual “Spirit of Service: Walk-Run” in Chicago, IL, bringing together nearly 570 participants for a day dedicated to service, health, and community engagement. The event encouraged individuals and families to come together in support of The Harbour, an organization that promotes the safety, stability and personal growth to youth experiencing homelessness by providing emergency housing and critical.
Participants of all ages joined the walk-run, reflecting the community’s shared commitment to giving back. The event also welcomed Village of Skokie Mayor Ann Tennes, who joined the Walk and saw firsthand the impact it has on the community. Reflecting on the impact of the event, Mayor Tennes shared, “Events like this are so important to support social services and the fabric of our community that helps our neighbors that are most vulnerable. Events like this provide funding to our non-profit partners, like The Harbour, are essential to helping keep that fabric strong. I am grateful for your support.
Through more than 1,200 walkathons organized over the past two decades, BAPS Charities has supported meaningful causes while fostering unity, compassion, and well-being in communities.
