As part of its ongoing commitment to the Million Meals Project, on 13th June, the Nairobi chapter of BAPS Charities responded to a request from Neema OVC Caregivers, a community-based organization in Solio Village 4, Laikipia Central, with a donation of food and essential supplies.
Neema OVC Caregivers cares for 44 children at its Neema Rescue Centre, providing shelter and support to orphans and vulnerable children, including survivors of gender-based violence, while running a school feeding program that helps improve attendance, concentration, and overall wellbeing among its young learners.
In response to the centre’s request for support, BAPS Charities Nairobi provided:
- 75 kg rice
- 15 kg green grams
- 100 kg beans
- 25 kg sugar
- 4 kg salt
- 2.4 kg drinking chocolate
- 10 kg Blueband
- 10 kg cooking fat/oil
- 24 kg maize flour
- 24 kg wheat flour
- 3 cartons of sanitary pads
- 10 boxes of biscuits (300 pieces per box)
- 1 bag of shoes
- Assorted clothes
- 10 inflatable toys
This donation of staple food items contributes approximately 12,000 meals towards BAPS Charities’ Million Meals Project, helping sustain Neema OVC Caregivers’ feeding program for weeks to come. The additional sanitary supplies, biscuits, shoes, clothes, and toys bring extra comfort and joy to the children at the centre, supporting their dignity and wellbeing beyond the dining table.
