BAPS Charities Food Drive in Hamilton, ON

The rising costs of food, housing, fuel, and transportation are placing immense pressure on individuals and families across Canada. Children, single mothers, international students, and seniors are among the hardest hit, with many struggling to afford even the most basic necessity: food. Nearly 25% of Canadians live in food-insecure households, and this number continues to rise.

Recognizing the urgency of this challenge, BAPS Charities organized a food drive in Hamilton, ON, donating more than 2,300 pounds of non-perishable food items to Hamilton Food Share on November 21, 2025. In addition, BAPS Charities coordinated a Canada-wide food drive leading up to and during the Diwali celebrations, uniting communities in a shared spirit of service and compassion.

Radhika Subramanyan, Chief Executive Officer of Hamilton Food Share, said:
“Thank you so much for supporting our neighbors and alleviating some of their burden this holiday season. With more people in need of help than ever before, and unparalleled demand for emergency food programs across the city, it gives us hope knowing we have such caring and thoughtful donors. This gift ensures our emergency food partners’ shelves will be stocked and our neighbors will feel relief knowing their fridges will be full of healthy food. Your contribution of 2310 lbs. worth of nutritious food for our member agencies supporting over 33,500 visits each month. We truly couldn’t keep up with this overwhelming need without you. Thank you for giving generously.”

BAPS Charities remains committed to serving society through a wide range of initiatives in the medical, environmental, community, educational, and humanitarian fields.
