BAPS Charities Canada brought communities together from coast to coast through 17 Walk/Run events held across seven provinces across Canada in 2026, engaging more than 6,000 participants in a nationwide celebration of service, health, volunteerism, and community engagement.
Hosted in cities across Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan, the BAPS Charities Walk/Run united individuals and families of all ages under the guiding principle, “In the Joy of Others Lies Our Own.” Through their participation, volunteers, supporters, community leaders, and elected officials demonstrated the extraordinary impact that can be achieved when communities come together in service of others.
The 2026 Walk/Run events were held in:
- Alberta: Calgary and Edmonton
- British Columbia: Vancouver
- Manitoba: Brandon and WinnipegÂ
- Nova Scotia: Halifax
- Ontario: Cambridge, Hamilton, London, Ottawa, Scarborough, Sudbury, Toronto, and Windsor
- Quebec: Montreal

Across the country, participants gathered in support of organizations dedicated to advancing health, accessibility, youth development, and community well-being. Beneficiary organizations included the Calgary Police Youth Foundation, Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, Victoria Hospital Foundation, CNIB Foundation, William Osler Health System Foundation, Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation, and the Hospitals of Regina Foundation. Together, these partnerships reflected a shared commitment to strengthening communities and improving the lives of Canadians.
The events welcomed the participation of Members of Parliament, Members of Provincial Legislatures, Mayors, City Councillors, Police Representatives, Healthcare Leaders, and Community Members. Their presence underscored the importance of volunteerism, civic engagement, and collaboration in building stronger and more resilient communities.
From Halifax in the east to Vancouver in the west, participants walked and ran alongside family members, friends, neighbours, and community leaders, demonstrating that service transcends age, culture, and geography. Children, youth, parents, and seniors participated together, creating a powerful display of intergenerational engagement and reinforcing the values of compassion, responsibility, and active citizenship.
Throughout the Walk/Run season, community leaders repeatedly recognized the remarkable contribution of BAPS Charities volunteers and supporters. Speakers highlighted how the organization continues to inspire people to give back, promote healthy living, foster social cohesion, and create meaningful opportunities for individuals to contribute to causes that benefit society as a whole.
More than a series of community events, the 2026 Walk/Run season served as a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when individuals unite around a common purpose. Every city, every volunteer, and every participant contributed to a broader movement that celebrated service, encouraged healthy lifestyles, strengthened community bonds, and inspired positive action.
At a time when communities face increasingly complex social challenges, the BAPS Charities Walk/Run demonstrated the enduring power of volunteerism to bring people together, bridge differences, and create meaningful impact. The events showcased how acts of service, both large and small, can inspire hope, foster belonging, and strengthen the social fabric of communities across the country.
For more than two decades, BAPS Charities has organized walkathons throughout North America that have raised awareness for important causes while promoting health, volunteerism, and community engagement. To date, more than 1,200 walkathons have been organized across North America, benefiting countless charitable organizations and positively impacting communities through the efforts of dedicated volunteers and supporters.
The success of the 2026 BAPS Charities Walk/Run season once again demonstrated that volunteerism remains one of the most powerful forces for positive change. As thousands of participants gathered across 17 Canadian cities, they reaffirmed a shared commitment to serving others and helping build healthier, stronger, and more connected communities.
The collective impact of these events extended far beyond the distance walked or run. They strengthened partnerships, inspired future generations of volunteers, celebrated the spirit of giving, and reinforced the belief that lasting change begins when individuals come together in service of a common good. Through the dedication of its volunteers, supporters, and community partners, BAPS Charities continues to demonstrate how compassion in action can transform lives and unite communities across Canada.
