BAPS Charities Donates Over 5,300 Pounds of Food to Support Communities in Scarborough, ON

The rising costs of food, housing, fuel, and transportation are placing immense pressure on individuals and families across Canada. Children, single mothers, international students, and seniors are among the hardest hit, with many struggling to afford even the most basic necessity: food. Nearly 25% of Canadians live in food-insecure households, and this number is rising.

Recognizing the urgency of this issue, BAPS Charities organized a food drive in Scarborough, ON, and donated more than 5,300 pounds of non-perishable food items to ACSA Community Services on December 12, 2025.

Eric Cheung, Senior Manager of Operations and Donor Engagement said, “Thank you very much for supporting the ACSA Community Services Food Centre with your generous donation of more than 5,300 pounds of non-perishable food items. Your contribution comes at a time when community need continues to grow, and our staff, volunteers, and clients are deeply grateful for your commitment to ensuring that individuals and families facing food insecurity can access the support they require. Acts of generosity such as yours strengthen the very foundation of our work.”

Councillor Michael Thompson, City of Toronto posted on social media, “Grateful to BAPS Charities for their generosity this holiday season! Together, we supported our community with a donation of 5 tonnes of non-perishable food to Agincourt Community Services Association (ACSA), helping families and individuals experiencing food insecurity this Christmas. We encourage other businesses and organizations to step up and give back. Your support can make a real difference in our community.”

BAPS Charities also organized a Canada-wide Food Drive, leading up to and during the Diwali celebrations, bringing communities together in the spirit of service and compassion.

BAPS Charities is committed to serving society and communities in diverse fields such as medical, environmental, community, educational, and humanitarian services.
