Women’s Health Lecture on Sleep Health in Vancouver, BC

Health experts in Canada continue to emphasize the importance of sleep for overall well-being. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, a significant number of adults do not consistently get the recommended amount of sleep, which can increase the risk of long-term health concerns such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, depression, and reduced cognitive function. Adequate sleep is critical to maintaining physical, mental, and emotional health.

BAPS Charities hosted a women’s health awareness lecture titled “Sleep Smarter, Live Better” in Vancouver, British Columbia, on January 25, 2026, to highlight the importance of healthy sleep habits. Yashviben Patel discussed how inadequate sleep leads to “sleep debt,” which can accumulate and affect physical, mental, and emotional health. Attendees also learned about age-specific sleep needs and common signs of poor sleep, including daytime fatigue, mood changes, difficulty concentrating, and frequent illness.

The lecture concluded with practical strategies to improve sleep hygiene and encouraged treating sleep as a core part of health, noting that better rest supports not only daily functioning but also emotional balance, family life, and spiritual well-being.
