BAPS Charities Walk-Run 2025 in Winnipeg, MB

On June 15, 2025, BAPS Charities brought the community together in Winnipeg, Manitoba, for its annual “Spirit of Service: Walk-Run.” This inspiring event encouraged participants to step forward in support of the life-saving work of two national beneficiaries: the William Osler Health System Foundation and the CNIB Foundation, along with a local beneficiary, the Victoria Hospital Foundation.

This year’s walk united over 350 community members who came together to raise awareness and funds for health initiatives and other charitable activities organized by BAPS Charities. The event showcased a broad spectrum of participation—from youth to seniors—all united for a common cause.

Special guests included the Hon. Terry Duguid, Member of Parliament for Winnipeg South, along with Erin Girouard, Director of Communications and Public Relations, and Sharmon Luchuck, Communications and Public Relations Manager from the Victoria Hospital Foundation.

The William Osler Health System is one of the largest community healthcare systems in Canada, comprising three integrated hospitals: Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital, and the Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.

The CNIB Foundation, formerly known as the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, is a nonprofit organization that delivers innovative programs and advocacy for individuals impacted by blindness.

The Victoria Hospital Foundation focuses on enhancing patient care and improving community health by supporting healthcare innovations at Victoria Hospital and engaging various stakeholders in its mission.

The event provided an opportunity for participants to promote and engage in a healthier lifestyle, while also highlighting the profound impact that collective efforts can have in addressing local needs and challenges.

“Thanks to the BAPS community for all you do to make our community of Winnipeg and beyond the vibrant, multicultural city and province that we are,” said the Hon. Terry Duguid, MP for Winnipeg South. “And a big, big shout out to the BAPS community for all you do to support the wider community, in particular Victoria Hospital.”

“We are proud and honoured to be part of the BAPS Charities Walk. The community spirit here is amazing,” said Sharmon Luchuck, Communications and Public Relations Manager from the Victoria Hospital Foundation. “All of today’s proceeds support the therapeutic garden at Access Fort Garry, helping youth and patients thrive and get more out of their care.”

The BAPS Charities Walk-Run in Winnipeg is one of over 100 similar events held across North America as part of a broader initiative benefiting local organizations. For over 20 years, BAPS Charities has organized more than 1,100 walks, making a meaningful impact in communities by supporting important causes and promoting a spirit of service and unity.
