COVID-19 Pandemic: BAPS Charities donates $6,000 to Matthews HELP Center in Matthews, NC

With many businesses closed in Charlotte and a stay-at-home order in place, many families in the area and throughout the country are experiencing financial hardships and are unable to pay for even basic necessities. A local non-profit organization, Matthews HELP Center has been providing critical assistance to needy families in the Charlotte suburb of Matthews, NC in the form of providing meals and helping to pay for day-to-day essential expenses such as rent and utilities.

In recognition of their incredible efforts, BAPS Charities donated $6,000 to Matthews HELP Center.

Matthews Mayor John Higdon stated, “I am particularly proud today of BAPS Charities who have once again stepped forward with a donation to the HELP Center. This will be helpful and is very much appreciated. We always can count on BAPS Charities to help us in these times of need.”

Sandra Conway, Director of Matthews HELP Center, shared “Thank you so much BAPS Charities. Matthews HELP Center has been part of the community for over 40 years and during this pandemic, the need to help is so much greater.”

Also in attendance to accept the donation was the former mayor of Matthews, Jim Taylor, who added, “I am thrilled with the way the community has stepped forward to support our Matthews HELPing Matthews effort for the HELP center.”

The donation is part of a larger initiative by the volunteers of BAPS Charities across the world who continue to evaluate situations in local communities to effectively provide support.
