BAPS Charities Kenya marked another milestone in its commitment to education and community upliftment with the successful construction and handover of a new classroom at Muriinya Primary School in Buuri Sub-County, Meru County.
Established in 1957, Muriinya Primary School has long served as a vital center of learning for children in the Murinya sub-location. Over the decades, the school has produced many successful individuals who have gone on to contribute meaningfully to their communities. However, the school’s infrastructure had deteriorated significantly, with several classes operating in aged and dilapidated timber structures that had been severely affected by weather and time.
Today, the school serves approximately 543 students, many of whom come from the nearby Machaka informal settlement, where families face significant economic hardship. Due to these circumstances, the school has limited financial resources to upgrade its facilities, making external support essential for improving the learning environment.
Recognizing this need, BAPS Charities Kenya partnered with the school community to construct a modern classroom, replacing aging structures and providing a safer, more conducive environment for learning. The classroom was officially handed over and opened in October 2025.
The new classroom will directly benefit dozens of students each year by providing a more comfortable and secure learning space, helping reduce overcrowding and allowing teachers to deliver lessons more effectively. The improved facility also supports the school’s broader mission of nurturing young minds and empowering the next generation through education.
Through initiatives like this classroom project, BAPS Charities Kenya continues to support education, community development, and youth empowerment across the country, helping build stronger and more resilient communities.
The school administration expressed heartfelt gratitude to BAPS Charities and all supporters who contributed to the project, noting that the new classroom will have a lasting impact on students for years to come.
