BAPS Charities held this year’s Pramukh Cup on Saturday 13 June 2026, bringing a national children’s football tournament to Goals Birmingham, Star City.
The day drew a big crowd, with 58 teams making the trip from all corners of the UK, some coming from as far as Preston, Manchester and London for a full day of competitive, good-spirited football. It started with a short opening ceremony that looked back at how the tournament began and what it means to play for the team around you, which set things up nicely before kick-off.
Players were split across three age groups. The Ghanshyam Cup was for school Years 2 to 3, the Nilkanth Cup for Years 4 to 6, and the Pramukh Cup for Years 7 and 8.
Once the football got going, there was no shortage of talent or effort on show. Parents, volunteers and coaches lined the pitches all day, and the buzz around the place never really dropped.
After the group games wrapped up, the tournament tipped into the knockout stages, and the matches only got sharper as the rounds went on.
In the Ghanshyam Cup final, Luton A saw off London Mandir L 3-0 to round off a near-perfect knockout run. They put three past every side they met in the knockouts and let in just one goal on the way to lifting the cup.
The Nilkanth Cup final went the way of Leicester D, who got the better of London South C with a 2-0 win.
The day finished with the Pramukh Cup final between London Mandir A and East London A. London Mandir A were on top from the first whistle and ran out 3-0 winners to take the trophy.
More than 460 goals were scored across the day. It all came to a close with a ceremony where the focus went well beyond the winners to the fair play, care, and team spirit shown by everyone who took part.
All in all, the Pramukh Cup 2026 was one to savour for players, families and supporters alike, and a great example of community spirit and the simple joy of playing football.
