Community Children’s Netball Tournament, UK

BAPS Charities organised a national indoor netball tournament for children, the Premvati Cup, on Saturday 19 July 2014 at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir and The Swaminarayan School in London.

A total of 17 teams came together from across the UK. Following registration of the players, the teams participated in a special parade, complete with banners from their respective towns and cities which were held aloft in celebration. This year’s opening ceremony also featured an element of Zumba (a dance fitness programme), which was thoroughly enjoyed by the children, parents and volunteers.

The tournament catered for three age groups: 6- to 8-year-olds, 9- to 11-year-olds, and 12- to 14-year-olds.

The trophies and prizes were presented in a colourful closing ceremony. This year’s prizes included an award for the best “side line squad”, which was presented to East London.

All the teams played with tremendous enthusiasm and camaraderie to make it a wonderfully memorable day full of excitement, energy and enjoyment for the young children.
