BAPS Charities Walk-Run 2025 in Chicago, IL

On June 8, 2025, BAPS Charities brought the community together in Chicago, IL, for its annual “Spirit of Service: Walk-Run.”  This was one of two such events on back-to-back days in the greater Chicagoland area. This inspiring event encouraged participants to step forward in support of the Center of Concern, a local organization dedicated to providing housing solutions, support services, and counseling to residents facing challenges related to aging, housing, and independent living.  The event also promoted service and well-being.

With over 750 participants, the event welcomed individuals of all ages, including Tom Merlin, President of the Board of Directors for the Center of Concern, who joined in solidarity for the cause. Reflecting on the event’s positive impact on the greater community, Mr. Merlin shared a powerful message, “You’re not just raising funds; you’re raising hope. You’re helping a senior stay in their home. You’re supporting a single parent working to avoid eviction. You’re helping someone find a friendly voice when they need it most. This event reflects what we all believe: that service is powerful; that kindness ripples outwards. When we work together, we create a lasting change.”

This BAPS Charities Walk-Run is one of over 100 similar events held across North America as part of a broader initiative benefiting local organizations. For over 20 years, BAPS Charities has organized more than 1,100 walks, making a meaningful impact in communities by supporting important causes and promoting a spirit of service and unity.
