BAPS Charities Walk-Run 2025 in Columbia SC

On June 1, 2025, BAPS Charities brought the community together in Columbia, SC, for its annual “Spirit of Service: Walk-Run.” This inspiring event encouraged participants to step forward in support of Rapid Shelter Columbia, raising awareness for low-barrier, harm-reduction-focused shelter solutions for chronically unsheltered individuals in the Southeast—while also promoting service and well-being.

With nearly 340 participants, the event welcomed individuals of all ages, including Rapid Shelter Columbia Director Kameisha Heppard, Senator Overture Walker, and Legislative Chief of Staff Chanique Belton, who joined in solidarity for the cause. Reflecting on the day’s impact, Kameisha Heppard shared:

“The gratitude is truly ours—we deeply appreciate that you and your organization thought of us. It’s because of thoughtful gestures like yours that we are able to continue the vital work we’ve been called to do. We’re currently planning a celebration event in November, and we’d love for you to be part of it. Please keep an eye out for an invitation from Rapid Shelter Columbia—we hope you’ll join us in celebrating the impact we’re making together. Thank you again for your continued partnership.”
