BAPS Charities Walk-Run 2026 in Crystal Lake, IL

As America prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary, BAPS Charities hosted the 2026 Spirit of Service Walk-Run, uniting more than 50,000 participants across over 100 cities in the United States and Canada in support of local nonprofit organizations. The nationwide initiative helped launch the America250 celebrations by putting community service and civic pride into action.

On June, 14 2026, the BAPS Charities Walk-Run in Crystal Lake, IL, brought together nearly 200 participants for a day dedicated to service, health, and community engagement. The event brought individuals and families together in support of the People for Parks Foundation of Lake in the Hills, IL, helping to raise awareness of community recreation programs and social‑support initiatives.

Participants of all ages joined the walk‑run, demonstrating the community’s shared commitment to service and giving back. The event welcomed Lake in the Hills Village President Ray Bogdanowski, People for Parks Foundation Treasurer Denise Wasserman‑Haugk, and officers from the village’s police and fire departments, who walked alongside volunteers and supporters to show their solidarity for the cause. Reflecting on the event’s impact, President Bogdanowski noted that gatherings like this highlight the village’s strength and spirit, bringing residents together in support of programs that enrich the community.  Denise Wasserman‑Haugk added that the turnout shows how deeply Lake in the Hills values its parks, recreational opportunities, and the social support services that help families thrive.

Through more than 1,200 walkathons organized over the past two decades, BAPS Charities has supported meaningful causes while fostering unity, compassion, and well-being in communities. As America250 approaches, the BAPS Charities Walk-Run demonstrates how volunteerism and civic engagement can bring communities together and inspire future generations.
