Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness and, at times, can lead to death. According to a CDC study, between 3 percent (9.93 million) and 11 percent (36.41 million) of the U.S. population gets infected and develops flu symptoms yearly.
Vaccination is the most effective way to avoid the flu; hence, BAPS Charities organized a Flu Vaccination Drive with Northwell Health in Long Island, NY, on October 4, 2025, benefiting 88 community members. All participants of the vaccination drive, along with other community members, benefited from a free blood pressure check-up and learned about their readings. More than 130 individuals took part in this free blood pressure camp.
