As part of Season of Service 2025, BAPS Charities Los Angeles partnered with Congresswoman Norma Torres (CA-35) this November to support families during a Thanksgiving food distribution, providing critical relief at a time when many households face food insecurity. Together, volunteers packed and distributed 4,000 pounds of food, assembling 125 grocery boxes filled with nutritious staples to help families prepare warm, wholesome meals for the holiday season.
Each grocery box included potatoes, carrots, apples, butter, milk, cheese, canned vegetables and fruit, bread, and rice—items chosen to be both practical and nourishing. BAPS Charities volunteers worked side by side to pack, organize, and distribute the boxes, ensuring families were welcomed with dignity and care. The event reflected the spirit of seva, or selfless service, transforming a Thanksgiving giveaway into a moment of community connection and gratitude.
Congresswoman Torres shared her appreciation for the partnership, saying, “I am deeply grateful to BAPS Charities and their volunteers for stepping up to serve our community with such generosity and compassion. This Thanksgiving food distribution made a real difference for families, and it’s inspiring to see organizations come together to ensure no one is left behind during the holidays.” Through efforts like this, BAPS Charities continues to demonstrate how collaboration and service can strengthen communities and uplift families when it matters most.
