On Sunday, June 1, 2025, BAPS Charities brought the community together in Melbourne, FL, for its annual “Spirit of Service: Walk-Run.” This inspiring event encouraged participants to step forward in support of the Children’s Hunger Project & The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Charity, raising awareness for ending childhood hunger and supporting our local law enforcement while promoting service and well-being.
With over 250 participants, the event welcomed individuals of all ages, including Charles Chambliss (Mayor of Palm Shores), Jigisa Dookhoo (Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit Courts), John Dittmore (Former Mayor, City of West Melbourne), who joined in solidarity for the cause. Reflecting on the day’s impact, Lindsay Deaton from Brevard County Sheriff’s Office shared, “it makes our first responders know that our community is helping them in a way that they didn’t think was possible.”
This BAPS Charities Walk-Run is one of over 100 similar events held across North America as part of a broader initiative benefiting local organizations. For over 20 years, BAPS Charities has organized more than 1,000 walks, making a meaningful impact in communities by supporting important causes and promoting a spirit of service and unity.
