As America prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary, BAPS Charities hosted the 2026 Spirit of Service Walk-Run, uniting more than 50,000 participants across over 100 cities in the United States and Canada in support of local nonprofit organizations. The nationwide initiative helped launch the America250 celebrations by putting community service and civic pride into action.
On May 31, 2026, the BAPS Charities Walk-Run in Melbourne, FL, brought together nearly 240 participants for a day dedicated to service, health, and community engagement. The event encouraged individuals and families to come together in support of The Children’s Hunger Project & Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Charity, Inc., helping raise awareness for helping elementary school children in need by providing them with food to take home for weekends and during school breaks and raise funds to assist our law enforcement officers and firefighters in their time of need, while promoting an active lifestyle and a spirit of compassion.
Participants of all ages took part in the walk-run, reflecting the community’s shared commitment to service and giving back. The event also welcomed The Honorable Jigisa Dookhoo, Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit Courts, Chief Deputy Mike DeMorat, Chief Michelle DiGiorgio, West Melbourne Police Dept, Councilwoman Diana Adams, of the City of West Melbourne, Councilman Mike Hammer, of the City of Palm Bay, Councilman Kenny Johnson, of the City of Palm Bay, who participated alongside volunteers and supporters to show their solidarity for the cause.
