Blood donation is a vital, ongoing need. About every two seconds, someone in the United States requires blood for surgeries, cancer treatment, childbirth complications, anemia, serious injuries, and more. In emergencies, demand can be especially intense—according to the American Red Cross, a single car accident victim may require as many as 100 units of blood. Blood banks can also face shortages when donations drop due to severe weather, public health disruptions, or other crises, making regular donation drives essential for maintaining a stable supply.
Answering this need, BAPS Charities organized a blood drive in Milford, Connecticut, on October 11, 2025. In total, 47 pints of blood were collected—potentially helping save up to 141 lives, based on commonly cited estimates that one donation can help up to three patients.
BAPS Charities’ commitment to community health extends beyond blood donation. Each year, BAPS Charities conducts comprehensive health fairs at more than 55 centers across North America, along with vaccination drives, children’s health and safety days, and health lectures—initiatives that support wellness and improve access to preventive care for communities across the continent.
