BAPS Charities Hosts Enrollment Drive for Affordable Care Act

With the open enrollment deadline for the Affordable Care Act on the horizon, many Americans have yet to take action.  The Act essentially mandates that individuals be enrolled in a qualified health insurance plan by February 15, 2015.  This is the second such enrollment period to take place since the passing of the law, but yet many Americans still find the process, as well as the various options, to be daunting and mired in confusion.

In order to bridge this gap and help educate members of the community regarding quality, affordable healthcare options, BAPS Charities organized Affordable Care Act – Awareness & Enrollment Drives on Sunday, February 8, 2015  across the nation. All together, 22 such events were held in conjunction with the US Department of Health and Human Services and nearly 350 people completed their enrollment at the event itself. Locations where the enrollment occurred: Atlanta, Boston,  Cherry Hill,  Chicago, Clifton, Cleveland, Dallas, Detroit, Edison, Houston, Jersey City, Los Angeles, Memphis, Miami, New York, Orlando, Parsippany, Philadelphia, Raleigh, Robbinsville, San Jose, Tampa, Washington DC.

In total, 1,058 members from various communities attended and actively participated in their local drives. As part of the events, over 100 enrollment specialists from the Department of Health and Human Services were on hand to provide attendees with personal guidance on understanding the entire enrollment process. Specialists provided assistance on navigating the healthcare exchange websites as well as determining the best possible plan to meet individual and family needs.  Additionally, specialists were able to review plans of existing enrollees to ensure that no other better options were available.
