Health Lecture 2018 in Sterling Heights, MI:Facts about Cholesterol and Fats

In the 1970s, the U.S. Dietary Goals advised Americans to cut back on fat and eat more carbs to lower the risk of heart disease, spawning an entire “fat-free” movement.  Since then, heart disease rates have actually increased as food manufacturers replaced fats with sugars.  More recent studies now prevail showing that not all fats are bad and maintaining a balance of good fat and cholesterol levels can help fight heart disease as well as other chronic illnesses.

In order to highlight the facts about cholesterol and fats and educate community members on good, unsaturated fat sources, BAPS Charities organized a Health Awareness Lecture in Sterling Heights, MI on February 11, 2018.
