Health Awareness Lecture on Thyroid Disease in St. Louis, MO

According to the American Thyroid Association, approximately twelve percent, or 20 million Americans have some form of Thyroid disease. However, nearly 60% of those affected are unaware of their own condition. The thyroid is an endocrine gland responsible for the production of hormones, which regulate the metabolic rate of many of the bodys functions. Diseases related to the thyroid include the more common hypo- and hyperthyroidism, thyroiditis and in more severe cases, thyroid cancer.
 
On November 15, 2015, BAPS Charities hosted a Health Awareness Lecture in St. Louis, MO providing participants with an  overview of the diseases faced with the thyroid gland. More so, the lecture focused on providing awareness of how individuals can detect symptoms and seek medical treatment as early as possible. Dr. Bhagirath Katbamna presented the lecture.
