Blood donation is a vital service, with someone in need of blood every two seconds in the United States. Patients undergoing surgery, receiving cancer treatment, recovering from serious injuries, or requiring emergency care often depend on blood transfusions. A single accident victim may require numerous units of blood. Despite this ongoing need, blood banks can experience shortages, particularly during emergencies and other periods of increased demand. Regular blood donation not only helps save lives but also strengthens a shared sense of community and responsibility.
On September 20, 2026, BAPS Charities hosted its annual blood donation drive in Tampa, Florida. OneBlood facilitated the blood collection, while donors, volunteers, and medical professionals, came together to support this lifesaving initiative.
The drive collected 69 pints of blood. These donations have the potential to help save 207 lives, marking an important milestone for the annual event and reflecting the growing support of the local community.
