COVID-19 Pandemic: Care Packages and Facemasks donated to Frontline Workers in Pennsylvania

As COVID-19 continues to affect every corner of the United States and the world, healthcare workers and first responders are facing a growing challenge – food accessibility.  As they work long hours to protect our communities, their ability to eat healthy and nourishing food becomes difficult.  To help these frontline heroes, BAPS Charities prepared 40 care packages with vegetarian snacks and delivered them to  St. Mary’s Medical Center, Langhorne, PA and Jefferson Health Abington Hospital, Lansdale, PA on April 25, 2020.  Volunteers adhered to the proper etiquette and social distancing guidelines and were fully trained on how to prepare, package, and deliver the packages.

Michelle Johnson, Nurse Supervisor at Jefferson Abington, Lansdale, received the packages.  Michelle was extremely grateful and said that “these food packages will be helpful to the hospital staff and doctors especially working in the COVID-19 areas.”

Dr. Rakesh Patel, Pulmonologist at St. Mary’s Hospital received the packages. Dr. Patel expressed his gratitude and said that “the hospital team has been working nonstop every day. These vegetarian snacks will provide an excellent alternative for the team”

BAPS Charities also donated 80 surgical masks and snacks to local area businesses and community ambulance squad as they navigate through these uncertain times.

“It is a blessing to have such organizations right here as our neighbors”, said Rep Todd Polinchock (PA144)

BAPS Charities volunteers across the world continue to monitor and evaluate local situations in order to provide effective support.
