BAPS Charities Nairobi Chapter Restores Sight for 100 Patients Through Free Cataract Surgeries
On 3rd and 4th October 2025, BAPS Charities Nairobi Chapter sponsored and supported free cataract surgeries at Lions Sightfirst Eye Hospital, giving the gift of sight to more than 100 needy patients.
For many, this life-changing surgery would have been far beyond their reach. Thanks to BAPS Charities, every patient received not only the surgery but also hospital stay, bedding, meals, and follow-up care at no cost. After surgery, patients are observed for two days and later reviewed at the hospital, with doctors also visiting their areas of residence to ensure continued recovery.
The gratitude expressed by the beneficiaries was overwhelming. One patient, affected in both eyes, shared that without this support he would have been left to beg on the streets. Another woman, who could not afford treatment herself, said that BAPS Charities had given her back her independence and dignity.
Through this initiative, BAPS Charities Nairobi Chapter has demonstrated its commitment to serving society with compassion and selflessness, ensuring that those most in need receive the gift of sight.
