Millions of women experience the transition through perimenopause and menopause, yet many enter this stage of life without a clear understanding of the changes they may experience. Greater awareness and education can help women better understand and navigate this important phase of their health. BAPS Charities hosted a Women’s Health Awareness Lecture on September 13, 2026, in San Jose, CA, to increase awareness and understanding of these changes.
The lecture, presented by Dr. Dakshaben Barot, explored the role of female hormones throughout a woman’s life, with a particular focus on the changes that occur during perimenopause and menopause. Attendees learned how changing hormone levels can affect physical and emotional well-being, including sleep, mood, bone health, body composition, and other health-related factors. The session also discussed practical steps women can take to better understand their bodies, manage hormonal changes, and support their health as they age.
Developed for women of all ages, the lecture encouraged younger women to build healthy habits and stay more aware of hormonal health well before menopause, while providing women approaching or experiencing menopause with information to help them navigate this stage of life.
Through its Health Awareness Lecture series, BAPS Charities continues to provide practical health education to help people in communities across the country make informed decisions and support their well-being.
